B&R Automation builds the 4PP420.0573-75 operator terminal as part of its 4PP Power Panels series. The device merges an embedded controller, a touch display, and communication interfaces inside one enclosure, so it can function simultaneously as the machine PLC and human-machine interface. In an automation cell, it executes local logic, presents process status, and accepts commands through the resistive touchscreen. A single APCI slot provides space for an expansion card, letting users add fieldbus or specialty I/O when extra connectivity is required.

Physically, the panel occupies only 212 x 156 x 76 mm, making it suitable for cabinet-door installation where space is limited. The screen size is 5.7 in (144 mm), giving operators a compact but readable window into the process. Graphics are rendered at 640 x 480 pixels, with a luminance of 350 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 400:1. This display is suitable for basic process screens, alarm views, and simple status graphics. Support for 256 colors allows simple trend charts and alarm differentiation, while the analog-resistive touch layer lets gloved personnel select on-screen objects without depending on capacitive coupling.

The unit runs from a supply of 24 VDC ±25%, so a standard 24-volt control power circuit with moderate tolerance will suffice. Its aluminum front panel carries a rating of IP65 / NEMA 250 type 4X, protecting internal electronics against dust ingress and water exposure when the bezel is properly gasketed. Two USB connectors follow USB 1.1 and 2.0 standards and can exchange data at up to 480 Mbit/s; each port sources 500 mA for devices such as memory sticks or barcode scanners. Continuous service is permitted at elevations up to 3000 m, supporting installations in high-altitude factories without additional derating.
