The 4PP420.0571-K30 operator panel is manufactured by B&R Automation as part of the 4PP Power Panels series. Designed for front-door installation on compact machinery, the device integrates a monochrome LCD, an embedded controller, and field wiring terminals so operators can start, stop, and adjust process settings without an additional PC. By combining visualization and control functions in a single housing, it reduces wiring complexity and saves cabinet space in packaging, conveying, and auxiliary equipment. The integrated controller also allows local control tasks to run inside the panel, reducing the number of separate devices required at the machine.
The panel runs on a 24 VDC supply, allowing it to share the same low-voltage rail as standard control components. Program execution and graphic objects are buffered in 128 MB of SDRAM, while retentive process data such as counters and recipes are stored in 512 kB of SRAM that remains valid after a warm restart. This memory arrangement supports responsive screen updates while preserving operating values during short interruptions. The sealed front face carries an IP65 rating, which blocks dust ingress and water jets when the unit is mounted correctly. A 5.7 in diagonal display provides sufficient area for status pages and alarm lists, and its backlight supports continuous-duty operation with modest power demand.
Screen content is rendered at QVGA resolution, and input is accepted through a resistive touch overlay that detects pressure from gloved or stylus operation. Network integration is handled by a 10/100 Ethernet interface for real-time fieldbus or SCADA links, while legacy devices can be attached to the built-in RS232 serial port. This combination allows the panel to communicate with newer plant networks while still supporting serial accessories already in service. Two expansion paths are present: an APCI slot that holds one fieldbus or I/O card, and a CompactFlash Type I slot for removable program or data storage. External peripherals such as service laptops or barcode readers connect via 2 USB ports, allowing quick access without opening the control cabinet.
