The 4PP420.0571-A5 operator panel is manufactured by B & R Automation as part of the 4PP Power Panels series. It integrates PLC-class processing, graphical visualization, and local machine input into one enclosure, allowing designers to mount a single device on a door and handle both control logic and HMI duties in small-to-mid-size automation cells.
Computation is handled by a Geode LX800 500 MHz 32-bit x86 processor supported by 64 MB of DDRAM, 512 KB of SRAM for retentive data, and 2 MB of onboard flash for firmware storage. The front carries a 5.7 in (144 mm) TFT that renders graphics at 320 × 240 pixels; its backlight produces 140 cd/m² so status elements remain readable on a plant floor. An analog resistive touchscreen overlays the display, allowing operation with gloved hands. Network access to higher-level controllers or SCADA hosts is provided by a 10/100 Mbps RJ45 Ethernet port, while legacy equipment can connect through an RS232 interface rated at 115 kBaud. Two APCI expansion slots accept proprietary I/O or fieldbus cards, and the system draws power from a 24 VDC ±25% supply.
The cast-aluminum housing measures 212 × 156 × 98 mm and seals to the cabinet with a gasketed bezel; its IP65 front and IP20 rear rating separates wash-down surfaces from internal wiring. Reliable operation is specified up to 3000 m altitude, supporting installations in elevated facilities without derating. Two USB 1.1/2.0 Type A connectors on the rear panel let technicians move recipes, log files, or service firmware images without opening the enclosure.
