The 4PP281.1505-B5 is an operator interface panel produced by B & R Automation and belongs to the 4PP Power Panels series. By integrating a touchscreen, processor, and field I/O connections into one unit, it functions as the front end of an automation cell, displaying real-time process data and letting operators trigger manual commands without opening the cabinet. The panel replaces separate industrial PCs and monitors, simplifying wiring and reducing enclosure depth in packaging machines, assembly stations, and material-handling lines.
The display is a 15 in (381 mm) TFT that renders graphics at a luminance of 330 cd/m², so status pages stay readable under bright factory lighting. An analog resistive touch layer registers input even when gloves are worn, while the screen supports 16.7 million colors and a 300:1 contrast ratio for clear differentiation of alarms and trend curves. Image generation is handled by a Geode SC2200 266 MHz, 32-bit x86 CPU that runs the panel’s real-time operating system and communication drivers. Application variables are buffered in 64 MB of DRAM, and two APCI slots accept optional fieldbus cards for CAN or PROFIBUS links. Power consumption peaks at 40 W, allowing the unit to be supplied from compact 24 V control circuits without extra heat-management hardware.
The screen’s native resolution is 1024 × 768, matching common SCADA layouts without scaling artifacts, and durability is supported by a half-brightness lifetime of 35,000 hours. Boot files, recipes, and other system data are stored in 2 MB of onboard flash, helping the panel restart quickly after power interruptions. The aluminum bezel carries IP65 / NEMA 250 Type 4X protection when mounted from the front, blocking dust and washdown jets on food-processing lines. A regulated input of 24 VDC ±25% feeds the internal power supply, while two USB ports and one RS232 connector provide local data backup and service access without disturbing the machine cycle.
