It functions as an operator interface that executes application code locally, reducing panel space and wiring when compared with separate PLC and display arrangements. In typical industrial automation lines, the panel allows on-machine visualization, data entry, and basic motion or process control through its integrated processor and communication ports. This arrangement keeps visualization and control close to the process being monitored.
The front side contains a 15 in analog-resistive touchscreen that recognizes finger or stylus inputs without requiring operators to change gloves. Graphics are rendered at 1024 x 768 pixels, giving enough density for detailed status pages. Backlight output of 330 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 300:1 maintain image clarity in factory lighting. Housing dimensions of 435 × 330 × 87 mm simplify door cutout planning, and the starting current peaks at 20 A for less than 1 ms, so standard 24 VDC supplies seldom need oversized breakers.
