Product Description:
The 4PP252.1043-B5 is a panel-mounted operator interface and embedded controller produced by B&R Automation within the 4PP Power Panels series. It integrates visualization and control so that motion axes, I/O, and process variables can be handled directly from the front of the control cabinet. Installed in an industrial machine, the unit provides a compact alternative to separate PC and PLC hardware by combining a touch-ready display, central processor, and fieldbus connectivity in one sealed assembly.
Its 10.4 in color TFT screen offers a native resolution of 640 x 480 px, while a brightness of 350 cd/m² keeps graphics clear in typical plant lighting. The front panel carries an IP65 / NEMA 250 Type 4X rating, which allows surface washdown without moisture reaching internal electronics. A fanless Geode SC2200, 266 MHz 32-bit x86 processor handles logic execution, and it works with a dedicated graphics controller that shares 4 MB of video memory for on-screen objects. System memory includes 64 MB of DRAM for runtime code plus 2 MB of Flash for nonvolatile storage of the operating system and recipes. Typical energy draw is only 20 W, which helps minimize heat inside sealed enclosures.
For local expansion, the panel provides 2 APCI slots for fieldbus or specialty interfaces and two USB ports for service tools or data backup, while a single CompactFlash slot accepts removable media for firmware updates. Control variables can survive brief power interruptions thanks to a power-failure buffer of 10 ms and 256 KB of SRAM that retains high-speed data until power returns. An onboard lithium battery rated at 950 mAh maintains the real-time clock and protects static variables when the system is powered down, making the unit suitable for machines that experience extended storage or shipping periods.
