The 4PP252.0571-A5 operator panel is produced by B & R Automation within the 4PP Power Panels series. It integrates a controller, network ports, and a color touch display to execute local logic, present process data, and accept commands on motion and process equipment. By combining computing resources and visualization in one compact housing, the unit reduces cabinet wiring and provides a single point for local operation, monitoring, and fault acknowledgment on production and packaging lines.
Its color LCD measures 5.7 in diagonally and renders at 320 x 240 pixels, while a luminance of 150 cd/m² keeps the screen readable on factory floors. The panel is driven by a Geode SC2200 266 MHz processor built on a 32-bit x86 architecture, giving deterministic performance for control tasks. Main memory includes 64 MB of DRAM for runtime code, and 256 KB of battery-backed SRAM retains data when needed. Program files are stored in 2 MB of onboard flash, and a single CompactFlash slot allows storage for recipes or application data. Four MB of shared graphics memory handle screen updates without placing unnecessary load on the CPU, and the integrated UART supports 115 kBaud communication for serial peripherals such as legacy drives, barcode scanners, or weigh scales.
External connectivity is handled by an onboard Ethernet controller that negotiates at 10/100 Mbps for real-time fieldbus gateways or direct links to SCADA hosts. Two USB ports support program loading and the connection of barcode readers or flash drives. The electronics are supplied from a 24 VDC ±25% source and draw up to 20 W, allowing the panel to share the same low-voltage rail as sensors and I/O modules. Passive cooling supports installation in space-limited enclosures, and the serial, Ethernet, and removable media interfaces allow routine data exchange and diagnostics across the machine network.
