The 4PP220.1505-B5 is an operator panel manufactured by B & R Automation and placed within the 4PP Power Panels series. It functions as a combined controller and visualization terminal, allowing machine builders to present process data and accept operator commands through an integrated touchscreen. By housing the display, input electronics, and communication interfaces in one unit, the product simplifies installation on control cabinets and provides a compact front end for PLC-based automation systems. It is suited to applications that need both HMI functions and embedded control at the point of use.
The aluminum front of the panel carries a protection rating of IP65, so the display surface can be washed down without water ingress. A 15 in analog-resistive touchscreen is fitted, giving finger or stylus input across its active area. Visual data is rendered at 1024 x 768 pixels and supported by a luminance of 330 cd/m², maintaining legibility under factory lighting. The resistive surface supports direct touch input without requiring a separate pointing device. Two USB ports allow keyboard or memory stick attachment, while the Ethernet interface negotiates at 10/100 Mbps to link the panel to controllers or higher-level networks. Behind the bezel, one CompactFlash slot provides removable storage and two APCI slots accept fieldbus or I/O cards, allowing the panel to match different machine layouts without an external computer.
Application code executes from 64 MB of DRAM, backed by 2 MB of onboard flash and 256 KB of SRAM for retentive data, while a Geode SC2200 266 MHz processor handles HMI tasks without a separate PC. This memory mix supports runtime operation, nonvolatile program storage, and retained values used by the application. Power consumption peaks at 35 W, and the electronics operate from a nominal supply of 24 VDC. The housing measures 435 × 330 × 109 mm, so the panel can be mounted in shallow enclosures while still leaving space for wiring. Underside connections keep the front surface uncluttered and separate operator access from cabinet-side cabling.
