The 4PP220.1505-75 operator terminal is produced by B & R Automation as part of the 4PP Power Panels series. It serves as an integrated human-machine interface that combines visualization with onboard control logic, enabling direct interaction with drives, sensors, and actuators in industrial machines. By embedding the controller behind the display, the panel removes the need for a separate PLC in compact automation cells and simplifies panel wiring for machine installations.
The front face carries a resistive analog touch screen with a diagonal of 15 inch (381 mm), giving operators ample target area for gloved interaction. Graphics are rendered at 1024 × 768 pixels, so status icons and trend curves remain legible even at a distance. A luminance of 330 cd/m² keeps the screen readable under factory lighting. The aluminum bezel and gasket achieve IP65 / NEMA 250 Type 4X protection when panel-mounted, preventing dust ingress and water spray from reaching the electronics. Power is supplied at 24 VDC ±25%, allowing the unit to share the same low-voltage bus that feeds sensors and relays. Outer dimensions of 435 × 330 × 86 mm support flush-mount installation, and the single APCI slot permits expansion with a dedicated fieldbus or motion card when required.
Computation is handled by a Geode SC2200, 266 MHz, 32-bit x86 CPU that balances real-time responsiveness with low heat generation. Application code executes from 64 MB of DRAM, while parameter sets remain in 2 MB of flash and fast startup data is stored in 256 KB of SRAM. The onboard Ethernet interface moves process variables across the network at 10/100 Mbps, and two USB ports accommodate recipe transfer or barcode scanners. Serial diagnostics reach 115 kBaud through the RS232 channel, providing a fallback link for setup and troubleshooting. A maximum draw of 35 W keeps cabinet thermal load moderate, so simple convection cooling is often sufficient.
