Product Description:
The 4PP220.1043-K03/PL3 operator panel is produced by B&R Automation within the Power Panels series. It combines a compact industrial PC with an HMI touchscreen so that machine status, recipes, and diagnostics can be viewed and adjusted directly at the installation site. When mounted in an enclosure or on a swing arm, the panel serves as a single access point for motion, process, and safety functions. This arrangement keeps local control and visualization in one place without requiring a separate display terminal.
The display has an active area of 10.4 in (264 mm) and uses a VGA, 640 × 480 pixels matrix on a color TFT screen. Brightness reaches 350 cd/m², and the 600:1 contrast ratio helps maintain legibility under factory lighting. An analog resistive touch layer allows input while gloves are worn. The graphics system is driven by a Geode SC2200 266 MHz processor that runs the Automation Runtime operating system, and it works with 64 MB of DRAM plus 256 KB of static RAM for program variables and retained data. Data exchange with legacy devices is handled through an RS-232/485 port with a serial transfer rate of 115 kBaud, allowing barcode input or recipe transfer without heavily loading the network connection.
Network communication runs at 10/100 Mbps, allowing the panel to connect to PLC networks or SCADA servers over standard Ethernet infrastructure. The aluminum faceplate carries IP65 / NEMA 250 type 4X protection, which helps keep washdown spray and airborne oil mist away from the electronics at the front of the unit. Normal operation requires a stabilized 24 VDC ±25% supply, and the internal power stage draws about 17 W during typical visualization cycles. Cold-start behavior is supported by a 20 A inrush current that lasts less than one millisecond, allowing the input capacitors to charge quickly while limiting disturbance on the control power rail.
