Product Description:
The 4PP220.1043-B5 operator panel is a member of the 4PP Power Panels series manufactured by B & R Automation. Designed for mounting on machine fronts, the unit combines visualization, control, and user input in a single housing. In an automation cell, it acts as the local HMI, running embedded software that presents process data, accepts touch commands, and forwards them to the controller network, eliminating the need for a separate PC or display. Its integrated CPU and fieldbus interfaces allow direct communication with remote I/O modules.
The panel is built around a Geode SC2200 266 MHz processor that executes runtime and graphics tasks without an external computer. Main memory totals 64 MB of DRAM, while 256 KB of SRAM retains critical variables during power cycling. Program code and system files reside in a 2 MB Flash device, and an external CompactFlash slot accepts removable media for recipe files and software updates. Two APCI slots accommodate fieldbus or motion interface cards, expanding the panel’s connectivity. Video is buffered in 4 MB of shared graphics memory and rendered on a TFT screen that measures 10.4 in (264 mm) on the diagonal with a native resolution of 640 x 480 px. This hardware combination supports consistent response during deterministic machine operation.
User interaction relies on an Analog resistive touchscreen driven by a Hampshire serial 12-bit controller, so commands are registered even with gloved fingers. Two front-accessible USB type-A receptacles provide 2 host ports that can source up to 500 mA for memory sticks, barcode readers, or service tools. Visual clarity is maintained by a typical luminance of 350 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 600:1, helping status graphics remain legible under factory lighting. The touchscreen and USB connections support direct local operation without requiring a separate keyboard or mouse.
