Product Description:
The 4PP182.1043-31 operator panel is part of the 4PP Power Panels series produced by B&R Automation. Combining visualization, touch input, field communication, and onboard control logic, the unit acts as a compact HMI-PLC for industrial machinery and production cells. Its purpose is to present process data to operators, accept commands through the front display, and run local application code that coordinates drives, sensors, and actuators over Ethernet or serial links.
The panel uses a 10.4-inch TFT display operating at 640 x 480 pixels, and brightness reaches 350 cd/m² so graphics remain legible under workshop lighting. An analog resistive touchscreen overlays the panel front, enabling gloved interaction while preserving the IP65 seal against dust and low-pressure water jets when mounted flush. Networking is provided by a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet controller for programming or SCADA links, and a dedicated RS232 port exchanges data with legacy devices at up to 115 kBaud. Two USB host ports accommodate service peripherals, and a single Type I CompactFlash slot accepts removable media for recipe transfer or system backup. Permanent mass storage is supplemented by 2 MB of internal flash.
Computing resources center on a Geode SC2200 266 MHz 32-bit x86 processor that runs the automation runtime. The CPU works with 64 MB of SDRAM so user tasks, fieldbus drivers, and visualization objects can execute concurrently without swapping. Maximum power draw is 23 W, allowing fanless enclosure designs, provided the supply delivers 24 VDC ±25% within Class 2 limits. Overall dimensions of 423 × 288 × 65.5 mm help retrofits into existing machine doors. Passive convection across the aluminum rear housing removes waste heat, and watchdog circuitry on the RS232 line helps maintain communications during line faults.
