Product Description:
The 4PP180.1043-31 is a human-machine interface developed by B & R Automation within the 4PP Power Panels series. The unit combines an embedded controller, color display, and touchscreen in a single housing to command and monitor automated equipment on the plant floor. By integrating visualization, local processing, and field connectivity, the panel eliminates the need for separate industrial PCs and standalone displays in compact machine architectures.
Its 10.4 in diagonal TFT renders graphics at 640 × 480 pixels, providing adequate detail for parameter pages and alarm lists. Screen readability under factory lighting is supported by a luminance of 350 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 600:1. The panel is driven by a Geode SC2200 266 MHz 32-bit x86 processor that shares 2 MB of graphics memory with the video controller and accesses 16 KB of L1 cache for instruction fetches. System variables, trend buffers, and application code reside in 64 MB of DRAM while 2 MB of flash stores the firmware image. One Type I CompactFlash slot is provided for recipe or log files, and the analog resistive touch layer registers operator input through finger or stylus contact.
Communications include an Ethernet interface operating at 10/100 Mbps for PLC networking and a serial port selectable up to 115 kBaud for legacy devices. Two USB host connectors supply up to 500 mA total current for barcode readers or memory sticks and accept hot-plugged accessories. With a maximum consumption of 23 W, the panel can be powered directly from standard 24 VDC control supplies without dedicated cooling. The architecture allocates 2 MB of shared graphics memory to accelerate screen redraws and leaves application data on the CompactFlash card, preventing DRAM fragmentation over long runtimes. These resource allocations allow the HMI to maintain deterministic update rates during continuous machine operation.
