B&R Automation manufactures the 4PP151.1043-31 operator panel for the 4PP Power Panels series. The product integrates an embedded controller with a touch-ready display so that machine status, alarms, and recipe data can be handled locally without a separate industrial PC. By combining visualization, soft-PLC functionality, and field-bus gateways in one enclosure, the panel streamlines cabinet layouts in packaging lines, conveyors, and small assembly stations.
The front side carries a TFT with a diagonal of 10.4 inches (264 mm). Its native resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, together with a luminance of 350 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 600:1, allows operators to read process graphics under normal factory lighting. Color rendering is limited to 256 colors, which matches the shared video buffer and minimizes bandwidth on the internal ISA bus. A fanless Geode SC2200 266 MHz processor drives the application code while keeping thermal load low for panel-mount installation behind sealed doors. DRAM, flash, and graphics memory are soldered to withstand vibration, and the resistive screen surface supports gloved interaction.
The electronics draw power from a nominal 24 VDC ±25% supply typically provided by the machine’s control voltage rail. Communications include Ethernet at 10/100 Mbps for TCP/IP-based PLC links, one asynchronous port that reaches 115 kBaud for legacy devices, and two USB ports for service tools or barcode scanners. A single Type I CompactFlash slot accepts removable media for recipe transfer or firmware updates, while onboard flash capacity is 2 MB and graphics memory is 2 MB shared with the video controller; application variables reside in 64 MB of DRAM. The housing measures 323 x 358 x 65.5 mm, permitting flush mounting in standard 19-inch door cutouts and leaving adequate space for field wiring at the rear.
