Product Description:
The 4PP120.0571-K01/PL3 operator panel belongs to the 4PP Power Panels series developed by B & R Automation. Designed as a combined control and visualization unit, it brings local program execution and user interaction to machine fronts without an external PC. Within an automation cell it acts as both a compact PLC and a touchscreen HMI, allowing parameter entry, status monitoring, and direct sequence control from a single enclosure.
Its display measures 5.7 in on the diagonal and renders graphics at 320 × 240 pixels (QVGA), giving adequate resolution for alarms, trending, and function keys. Input is captured through an analog resistive touchscreen with 12-bit coordinates, enabling accurate finger or stylus operation even when gloves are worn. A Geode SC2200 266 MHz 32-bit x86 processor executes user code and handles communication tasks; this CPU selection lowers power consumption while keeping deterministic cycle times. The panel is powered from a 24 VDC ±25% supply so it can share the same low-voltage rail as sensors and actuators. Under full backlight and processor load it draws up to 15 W, a figure that simplifies cabinet thermal calculations and allows operation from small power supplies.
For data exchange, the unit provides two USB host ports that reach 12 Mbit/s, a single RS-232 service port that supports a maximum transfer rate of 115 kBaud, and an integrated MacPhyter DP83816 controller for 10/100 Base-T Ethernet. There is also one Type I CompactFlash slot for removable program storage or recipe files. During cold start, the input stage can momentarily demand 20 A for <1 ms, so the supply must tolerate that inrush without voltage dip. The aluminum housing measures 156 mm in height and 212 mm in width, allowing installation in space-limited operator stations while still leaving room for field wiring on the rear connectors.
