B & R Automation manufactures the 4PP120.0571-01 operator panel in its 4PP Power Panels series. The product combines a compact controller with a built-in display so that motion commands, process values, and alarms can be managed directly from the machine front. By combining control logic and visualization, the panel reduces cabinet wiring and allows direct user interaction through its resistive touchscreen, which supports precise finger or stylus input even when gloves are worn.
The monochrome LCD is designed for long service life because the CCFL backlight is rated for 50,000 hours before brightness drops noticeably. Typical luminance of 140 cd/m² makes the screen readable under normal factory lighting, while a 25:1 contrast ratio keeps text and graphic elements distinguishable on a single-color background. Images are rendered at 320 × 240 pixels in QVGA format, and the active display area measures 5.7 in diagonally, giving enough space for pushbutton panels, trend charts, and numeric entry fields without increasing the enclosure footprint. An analog 12-bit touch layer sits above the display so each press is translated into 4096 × 4096 coordinate resolution for accurate menu navigation.
The aluminum front bezel carries IP65 protection against dust and water jets, while the rear housing meets IP20 for controlled cabinet environments. Input power is centered on 24 VDC ±25%; under steady conditions the unit draws up to 15 W, but inrush can momentarily reach 20 A (<1 ms), so supply sizing must account for that peak. Communication with PLCs or drives is provided by an RS-232 port that supports 115 kBaud and by two USB 1.1 host interfaces that each supply 500 mA for memory devices or service tools. The overall dimensions are 212 × 156 × 55.5 mm, and the total weight is 1.4 kg, which supports door mounting without heavy reinforcement.
