B&R Automation's 4PP065.0571-X74 is an operator interface from the 4PP Power Panels series. The unit combines a color display, an embedded controller, and a resistive touchscreen into one panel that mounts on the machine door. In a production cell, it provides local visualization and limited logic execution, allowing the main PLC to off-load recipe handling and alarm acknowledgment while keeping cabling short. The device operates from standard 24 VDC control circuits and is intended for washdown environments often found in food, packaging, and material-handling lines.
The panel presents process data on a CSTN display with a native resolution of 320 x 240 pixels across a 5.7 in active area. Visibility under shop-floor lighting is supported by a luminance of 500 cd/m² and a 350:1 contrast ratio, while 262,144 available colors help distinguish process states clearly. Operators interact through an analog resistive touch layer that can register input even when gloves are worn. The die-cast front frame has a protection rating of IP65 / NEMA 250 Type 4X, which helps keep water jets and cleaning agents from compromising the electronics. Electrical supply is taken from a 24 VDC ±25% rail, drawing 0.45 A at rated conditions for a typical power demand of 10 W.
The onboard computing section uses a Geode LX800, 32-bit x86 processor running at a 500 MHz clock rate, providing enough performance for graphics refresh, protocol handling, and local scripting. Application variables are stored in 128 MB DDR SDRAM, while configuration data and operating system files are kept in a nonvolatile 4 MB flash area. User-retentive values such as counters are buffered in 232 kB of SRAM. A rear USB 2.0 host port accepts memory sticks or external peripherals for local file transfer and recipe loading.
