Product Description:
The 4PP045.IF23-1 is a compact power panel manufactured by B&R Automation within the 4PP Power Panels series. It combines visualization, control, and fieldbus connectivity in a single unit so that machine builders can mount one device on the door of a control cabinet and supervise discrete or process-oriented equipment. Its integrated format helps reduce the need for separate operator and communication hardware on compact automation systems.
The CAN interface is wired through a 4-pin multipoint connector and is driven by an onboard SJA 1000 controller. This pair supports network segments up to 1000 m while sustaining a data rate of 1 Mbit/s, so a production line can span long distances without repeaters when bus loading is moderate. A built-in terminator of 120 Ω can be engaged at the last node to preserve signal integrity. The panel also offers an interface mix of one RS232 port, one RS485/RS422 port, and one CAN port, providing flexible links to legacy drives or modern decentralized I/O. PLC-to-IF1 isolation is not provided, whereas PLC-to-IF2 and PLC-to-IF3 are galvanically isolated, which helps prevent ground loops on the RS485 and CAN sides. On the RS232 channel, RTS and CTS handshake lines coordinate buffer flow, and the link is managed by a 16C550-compatible UART with a 16-byte FIFO to reduce interrupt activity during bursts.
The differential RS485/RS422 port can maintain reliable communication over 500 m when the 150 Ω terminating resistor is fitted at the remote end. All serial signals are routed through a compact 9-pin D-Sub connector, which simplifies cable connection during installation. Transfer speed on the asynchronous ports reaches 115.2 kbit/s, which is sufficient for parameter downloads, diagnostics, and barcode reader input. An enclosure rating of IP20 means the device must be installed inside a protected cabinet, yet the absence of exposed high-voltage terminals on the fascia makes front-panel mounting practical.
