The 4PP045.IF10-1 is one of the interface modules by B&R Automation available for PP45 power panels. Most power panels from the PP45 product line already have integrated interfaces that allow communication and data transfer. For some applications, however, using a dedicated interface module expands the capabilities of an existing power panel to meet other demands. Particularly, the 4PP045.IF10-1 provides one RS232 interface for PP45 power panels via its 9-pin DSUB connector. The DSUB connector allows a maximum transfer rate of 115.2 kBit/s and employs special pin assignments. Four out of nine pins from the DSUB connector have no special assignments, while pins 2 and 3 have the receive signal and transmit signal assignments, respectively.

During data transfer, the 4PP045.IF10-1 provides basic diagnostics via its status LEDs. Specifically, there are two status LEDs in the 4PP045.IF10-1's body, and they toggle depending on the status of the data transfer. When the module receives data via the communication interface, LED RxD emits an orange light. On the other hand, when the module sends data via the interface, LED TxD emits an orange light instead. The 4PP045.IF10-1's controller for the RS232 interface is a UART-type controller that is 16C550 compatible. The interface also incorporates a protective circuit and parity bits.

The 4PP045.IF10-1 has the following certifications: CE, C-UL-US, and GOST-R. It also has a rated operating temperature range between 0 and 50 degrees Celsius.
