The 4PP045.0571-L42 is an operator terminal from B & R Automation in the 4PP Power Panels series. As an integrated HMI and controller, it combines a display, keypad, and onboard computing resources to issue commands, visualize process states, and exchange data with PLC networks on the factory floor. This arrangement allows the unit to function as a local control point where machine status and operator input are handled from the same panel-mounted device.
Its user interface centers on a 5.7" (144 mm) monochrome LCD that renders 320 × 240 pixels, offering eight gray levels for basic graphic symbols and alarms. The panel is driven by a ELAN SC520 100 MHz CPU supported by 64 MB DRAM, so it can host compact control programs and local recipe data. Non-volatile retention for counters and setpoints is provided by 48 kB of SRAM. The front of the unit has a rating of IP65 front / IP20 back, which helps block dust and washdown spray at the front while allowing convection cooling at the rear. A Type I CompactFlash slot accepts program backups, the integrated 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet interface supports programming and diagnostics traffic, and an X2X four-pin plug is present for deterministic I/O expansion.
For operator input, the membrane keypad provides 24 tactile keys arranged around the screen, giving direct access to machine functions even when gloves are worn. The back-lit LCD reaches 140 cd/m² of brightness, and this level is suitable for indoor panels mounted on enclosed cabinets. Connectivity for peripheral devices such as barcode scanners is available through 2 × USB 2.0 Type A ports situated at the rear. Despite the integrated electronics, the housing weighs only 0.5 kg, so it can be mounted on swing arms or lightweight enclosures without placing excessive load on the hinges.
