Product Description:
The 4PP015.E420-36 is a programmable operator panel manufactured by B & R Automation as part of the 4PP Power Panels series. Intended for machine-level control, the device combines a PLC-class processor, local I/O, and a monochrome LCD in one enclosure. Within an automation cell, it executes real-time logic while showing status information on the display, so it can replace separate controllers and HMIs in compact installations. Its small footprint allows mounting directly on a cabinet door or machine frame, which keeps signal paths short and simplifies panel layout.
Electrical performance centers on a regulated input of 24 VDC, which powers the CPU, display, and field terminals. The controller processes ladder or structured-text instructions in 0.8 µs, permitting fast evaluation of timing-critical sequences. This short execution time helps the unit react quickly to changing machine states. Application variables are retained in 300 kB SRAM, and program code is stored in 1024 kByte FlashPROM, so the control application remains available through power cycles. Two analog channels can accept and output ±10 V signals for proportional valves or transducers, enabling closed-loop control without external signal conditioners.
The front membrane carries an IP65 rating, allowing washdown use in food or packaging zones when the bezel is correctly sealed. Communication to supervisory PCs occurs over the integrated RS232 interface at 115.2 kbit/s, which provides enough bandwidth for recipe downloads and diagnostic data exchange. Mechanical dimensions of 153 x 120 mm allow installation in confined operator stations, and the monochrome LCD displays process data with a 4 x 20 characters format. Operators issue commands through a keypad with 26 tactile keys, while eight digital inputs, eight transistor outputs, and a 0.5 A source capability support small conveyors, safety gates, and indicator lamps.
