Product Description:
B & R Automation manufactures the 4MP281.0843-Kf mobile operator panel as part of the 4MP Mobile Panels series. This handheld unit serves as a human-machine interface for industrial automation systems, allowing operators to start, stop, and monitor machine sequences directly from the production floor while remaining connected to the control network. Its integrated safety features and ergonomic casing make it suitable for maintenance tasks and line changeovers in confined spaces.
The panel draws on a lithium-ion battery rated at 950 mAh, giving operators several hours of untethered service before re-docking. Its display measures 8.4 in diagonally and renders graphics at 640 x 480 pixels, which is adequate for parameter lists and alarm dialogs. A fanless Geode SC2200 266 MHz processor coordinates the user interface with the real-time control bus while conserving energy, and typical demand stays below 10 W max. Runtime data are stored in 64 MB of DRAM, and a separate 256 KB SRAM block holds variables that must survive brief power dips. Field wiring is simplified by an integrated Ethernet controller supporting 10/100 MBit/s and a CAN interface that reaches 1 MBit/s for deterministic exchanges with drive inverters. Two front-mounted USB connectors follow the USB 1.1 standard, and the circuit tolerates a 20 A starting current during cold boot.
Display legibility in factory lighting is supported by a luminance of 120 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 250:1, which helps keep text readable against glossy machine enclosures. Configuration files and boot code occupy the panel’s 2 MB of onboard flash, leaving the removable media slots free for recipes or data transfer. An onboard clock remains within ±20 ppm to preserve time-stamped logs during normal operation.
