Product Description:
The 4MP281.0843-K05 is a mobile operator panel developed by B&R Automation within the 4MP Mobile Panels series. As a handheld HMI, it combines display, touch input, and computing resources in a single enclosure for direct machine interaction on the plant floor. By tethering to the programmable controller, the unit lets users visualize process variables, acknowledge alarms, and adjust set points while remaining close to moving equipment. This format keeps the interface within reach at the point of use instead of limiting access to a fixed cabinet display.
Its visualization section centers on an 8.4 in. TFT display, offering enough surface for complex graphical objects without occupying excessive handheld space. The display has a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, so dialogs, trends, and bitmaps render clearly. Readability is supported by a brightness of 120 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 250:1, which help keep status indicators distinct under varied ambient light. A color depth of 256 colors provides a sufficient palette for alarm classes and variable highlighting. User interaction occurs through an analog resistive touchscreen that accepts finger or stylus pressure, allowing reliable input even when gloves are worn.
Behind the display, a Geode SC2200 266 MHz x86 processor executes the visualization runtime and communication tasks. Application data sits in 64 MB of DRAM, while onboard flash and shared graphics memory store operating data and control pages for quick screen updates. Network integration is handled by a 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet interface that supports standard TCP/IP diagnostics and rapid download of updated HMI projects. A USB 1.1 device port offers local log extraction, and the 950 mAh internal battery preserves the real-time clock and SRAM contents when external power is removed. The hardware balance supports local visualization, basic data handling, and routine network communication in the same portable unit.
