The ER EtherCAT Box Modules series is a Beckhoff family of IP67 field I/O modules with zinc die-cast housings designed for harsh industrial and process environments.
The series covers common machine-level signal tasks with versions for digital inputs, digital outputs up to 0.5 A, configurable digital I/O combinations, analog current and voltage measurement, temperature measurement, serial communication, encoder interfacing, and motion functions. These modules communicate over EtherCAT through dual M8 connections, use separate 24 VDC control and peripheral supply voltages, and can pass those supply voltages through to downstream modules. Depending on the version, the modules are available in 30 mm or 60 mm widths, support M8 or M12 signal connections, and certain high-current variants use 7/8-inch power supply connections with M12 EtherCAT sockets. The series is built for demanding installation conditions with IP65, IP66, and IP67 protection, die-cast zinc construction, electrical isolation between fieldbus and I/O, and operating temperature capability down to -25 °C.
