The EEA-PAM-581-A-30 is a plug-in power amplifier card manufactured by Vickers for the EEA-PAM Power Amplifiers series. Installed in hydraulic drive cabinets, the board translates low-level voltage commands from a PLC into controlled current for proportional solenoids, thereby regulating spool position in industrial valves. Because it operates from a single DC bus and carries its own reference sources, the module reduces external wiring and keeps actuator response consistent in demanding automation environments.

It is powered from a nominal system rail of 24 VDC, and under continuous duty the card draws up to 40 W. To maintain valve linearity when the supply is noisy, the design tolerates up to 10 % peak-to-peak ripple on the incoming line. An internal converter furnishes a regulated control supply of 15 VDC at 50 mA; this auxiliary output serves external potentiometers or sensors and its ripple is limited to 50 mV to keep analog noise low. Reverse polarity protection is provided so wiring errors do not damage the board’s active components.

Command and monitoring channels are based on precise references. The card supplies a reference of 10 VDC at 5 mA, with only 20 mV ripple and a temperature drift of 1 mV / °C, allowing stable scaling of external setpoints. The buffered command monitor presents 10 kΩ impedance and reproduces the conditioned signal over a 10 V span for diagnostics. A logic enable input with 22 kΩ resistance gates the power stage, while the solenoid current monitor outputs a ratio of 1 V/A for quick verification of coil load. Undervoltage shut-down engages when the supply falls below 18 VDC, ensuring valve safety during brown-outs.
