The EEA-PAM-561-A-33 is a plug-in power amplifier card from Vickers in the EEA-PAM Power Amplifiers series. Installed in DIN-format cages beside motion controllers, the board conditions analog setpoints and drives proportional solenoid valves so hydraulic cylinders, presses, and positioning tables follow electronic commands in industrial automation. By translating low-power reference signals into controlled coil current, it bridges the gap between PLC logic and fluid power actuators.

Input flexibility is provided by a command current window of ±20 mA or a command voltage window of ±10 V, allowing the card to accept either PLC current loops or standard ±10 V analog outputs. The current input channel offers a 100 Ω impedance so source modules see a predictable load, while the board itself is energized from a nominal 24 VDC supply. With no drive signal the unit draws 1.4 A; under full modulation its power demand peaks at 50 W. Internal reference rails deliver ±10 VDC at 5 mA for external potentiometers and generate a symmetrical ±10 V feedback at the Mp2 test point when the valve reaches full stroke. The Mp1 diagnostic node carries 10 kΩ of impedance for oscilloscope monitoring. Reverse polarity protection on the supply header prevents damage if the field wiring is inverted.

The output stage is a PWM driver capable of delivering up to 1.8 A of regulated current to a proportional solenoid, and the control loop draws 50 mA from the logic section while recreating a stabilized ±15 VDC rail for on-board electronics. When a voltage command is used, the input leg presents a 47 kΩ impedance, limiting bleed current and preserving signal integrity over long cable runs. Along with the 10 kΩ monitor port and the ±10 V feedback signal, these characteristics allow the amplifier to translate electrical references into smooth hydraulic motion without additional conditioning hardware.
