The EEA-PAM-553-A-32 is a plug-in proportional valve power amplifier produced by Vickers within the EEA-PAM Power Amplifiers series. In hydraulic automation racks, this card converts low-level command signals into regulated coil current so that directional or flow control valves track reference positions without overshoot. It interfaces directly with proportional valves found in presses, injection-molding machines, and test rigs. The module fits standard Eurocard slots, allowing machine builders to tune valve response from the electrical cabinet instead of at the actuator.

Its power section operates from a system supply of 24 VDC, and overall consumption is limited to 50 W, so panel heat rise stays predictable. An onboard control supply draws only 50 mA and generates ±15 VDC for the card’s analog circuitry. Command channels accept a voltage reference of ±10 V or a current input of ±20 mA, giving compatibility with PLC analog outputs. The voltage path presents 47 kΩ of input impedance, while the current path terminates in 100 Ω to maintain loop integrity. Factory calibration leaves the deadband at 10 % of maximum spool stroke, limiting unintended motion around zero, and sets open-loop gain at 10 %/V for proportional response across the full command span. The amplifier’s 330 g mass minimizes loading on backplane connectors, and its shunt-derived feedback lets technicians check coil current without disturbing the control loop.
