The EEA-PAM-553-A-30 is a plug-in power amplifier card built by Vickers for the EEA-PAM Power Amplifiers series. In hydraulic automation systems it converts ±10 V command references into controlled coil currents for proportional valves, letting a PLC or motion controller adjust fluid flow without direct high-power switching.

The card operates from a nominal supply of 24 VDC and draws up to 40 W. Internal electronics require only 50 mA of control supply current while creating a regulated output of ±15 VDC for external sensors or potentiometers. A separate reference channel delivers ±10 VDC at 5 mA; ripple on this channel is limited to 20 mV pk-pk and its temperature drift stays under 1 mV/°C. Control-supply ripple must remain below 50 mV pk-pk, and the main supply may fluctuate by ±10 % pk-pk without affecting accuracy. The enable circuit presents 22 kΩ of impedance, recognizes OFF when the signal is below 4.5 VDC, and connects to a 10 kΩ monitor output for status feedback.

The amplifier becomes active when the enable line reaches 9.8 VDC; if the bus drops to 18 VDC it triggers undervoltage shutdown to protect connected valves.
