The EEA-PAM-535-A-32 is a plug-in power amplifier card manufactured by Vickers for the EEA-PAM Power Amplifiers series. Installed inside hydraulic control racks, the card converts low-level command signals into regulated current for proportional valve solenoids, making it a critical interface between electronic controllers and fluid-power actuators on presses, molding equipment, and other automated machinery.
The board draws a maximum control-supply current of 50 mA while its auxiliary rail is ±15 V, generated onboard for signal conditioning. The power stage runs from a nominal 24 VDC line and remains functional down to 20 VDC. Steady-state consumption is 50 W under continuous solenoid drive. Analog interfacing options include a current-command path presenting 100 Ω and a voltage-command path of 47 kΩ, so upstream PLC cards are not overloaded. Internal references supply ±10 V at up to 5 mA for external potentiometers or transmitters. The solenoid coils are energized with pulse-width modulation, which provides fine current resolution and keeps coil temperature within safe limits during long duty cycles.
Protective functions dominate the card’s final stage. The output is short-circuit protected, overload events trigger an automatic reset sequence, and reverse-polarity devices prevent damage from crossed supply leads. If the incoming line sags below <18 VDC, the circuit disables the PWM to stop unintended valve movement; the opposite boundary is 40 VDC, above which operation is inhibited. Remote enable is accepted through 22 kΩ of input impedance so even low-power digital outputs can gate the amplifier. Combined, these limits allow field technicians to wire the module quickly while ensuring the hydraulic axis remains controllable during supply fluctuations or inadvertent faults.
