The EEA-PAM-511-A-32 is a plug-in power amplifier card produced by Vickers for the EEA-PAM Power Amplifiers series. In an automation cabinet it receives analog command levels from a controller and conditions them so that proportional actuators see a stable, repeatable drive signal. By translating low-energy references into a modulated output, the card allows a PLC or motion processor to operate hydraulic or electro-mechanical devices without adding discrete power stages.

The card is energized from a ±15 VDC control rail that draws only 50 mA, minimizing load on the system power supply. Internally it produces a pulse-width-modulated output, identified as a PWM drive type, so valve coils or solenoids receive a duty-cycle-controlled current. All high-power switching is referenced to a field bus fed by the machine’s 24 VDC nominal supply. Five voltage command inputs are available; each sees a 47 kΩ input impedance to protect upstream electronics, while a separate 100 Ω current input is provided for process transducers. The control rail ripple is held to 50 mV peak-to-peak, ensuring the switching stage is not modulated by supply noise.

Signal accuracy is anchored by a ±10 VDC reference that sources up to 5 mA and shows 20 mV peak-to-peak ripple at full load. Closed-loop error is limited to a ±1 % reference tolerance, and thermal stability is maintained with a drift of only ±1 mV/°C. During operation the board consumes a maximum of 50 W, a figure used to size enclosure cooling. Output short-circuit protection is provided, so a coil fault does not damage the switching stage, and overload conditions trigger an Automatic Reset routine that restarts the device once the fault clears.
