The EEA-PAM-511-A-30 is a plug-in power amplifier card manufactured by Vickers for the EEA-PAM Power Amplifiers series. Installed in valve driver racks, it interfaces with programmable controllers and transducers to generate proportional coil current for hydraulic actuators. By shaping command and feedback signals, the board stabilizes spool position and flow, allowing repeatable pressure or speed control throughout automated presses, molding stations, and material-handling equipment.

The board operates from a 24 V DC supply and its internal dissipation is limited to 40 W, so cabinet ventilation must accommodate that heat load. At the output stage it can source or sink up to ±15 V DC, delivering a regulated coil current of 50 mA to the connected proportional valve. Control quality is preserved because the peak-to-peak ripple on this current is capped at 50 mV pk-pk. An electronic circuit interrupts drive in the event of a shorted load, and the module clears the fault automatically once the overload is removed. These protective features minimize downtime and prevent thermally induced damage to field wiring and valve coils.

A separate reference generator supplies up to ±10 V DC at a maximum of 5 mA so external set-point devices can be powered directly from the card. The reference voltage remains within ±1% of its nominal value, and its drift is limited to 1 mV/°C, ensuring stable calibration in changing ambient temperatures. Reference ripple is restricted to 20 mV peak-to-peak, while supply ripple tolerance extends to 10 % peak-to-peak without affecting regulation. Reverse polarity protection blocks damage from incorrect wiring, and an automatic overload reset restores normal operation after transient supply faults, keeping the hydraulic loop responsive during maintenance or start-up conditions.
