The MC256-R003/090 is an exceptional and durable resistor unit manufactured by Toyoda Machine Works and Sanyo Denki under the MC256 product line. As part of the highly dynamic MC256 series, this compact regenerative resistor unit is applicable for high-frequency servo applications generating excessive energy. It can also be used alongside servomotors with high load inertia and holding brakes. During operation, this MC256 module can protect other components in the servo system by dissipating excess regenerated energy from other dynamic devices such as motors. As part of Sanyo Denki’s MC resistor series, the MC256-R003/090 boasts a flat construction and an intuitive front panel.

Like other resistor units by Toyoda, the MC256-R003/090 contains four terminals. The terminals in this resistor unit can be used to connect to other devices such as amplifiers. Like other devices in a servo system, the MC256-R003/090 is not a standalone product. It requires a power supply module along with the amplifier to achieve its full potential. The MC256-R003/090 relies on natural convection to facilitate heat dissipation and cooling. With evenly spaced screw holes along its sides, the MC256-R003/090 can be mounted on a rack through its rear side.

Since resistor units dissipate excessive energy, it is advisable to integrate protection devices within the servo system.
