The RS2A15AAAL002EB2PL1 Servo drive is developed by Sanyo Denki which is part of the SANMOTION R line. The servo drive is made to work with AC servo motors to control motion.
The RS2A15AAAL002EB2PL1 servo drive connects to a power supply via a top-mounted terminal block that includes L1, L2, and L3 inputs for 3-phase AC input power. During motor slowdown, a dynamic brake resistor attached to the front of the drive releases regenerative energy. For heat dissipation, the resistor is connected to a large metal heatsink. An additional grounding point is connected to the servo drive by a green/yellow wire that is securely attached to the body. A green terminal block handles digital or analog control signals at the signal interface. Energy for the motor comes from a round black connector with four to six pins that give U, V, and W phases. There is also an optional earth connection for safety. Cylindrical MIL connectors connect a big AC servo motor to the drive and handle both encoder input and motor power. A coupling is installed on the motor shaft so that it can be connected to a mechanical load like a clutch or screw drive.
The RS2A15AAAL002EB2PL1 has a different terminal for dynamic braking, which secures the release of energy during quick stops. Some encoders have 10 to 20 pins, but a blue circular connector controls encoder input. The servo drive is connected to the motor and encoder through these MIL-DTL-5015-compliant connections. While the motor slows down a lot, the braking resistor is mounted close to the drive and enables braking cycles. The CNC machines, robots, and other industrial automation systems that need controlled motor operation and feedback-based accuracy can use this drive.
