The RS2A03A2MA3E00 servo amplifier is produced by Sanyo Denki as part of the R SANMOTION Servo Drives series. It converts three-phase mains power into regulated motor currents, closes the velocity loop, and forwards absolute position data to host controllers. Within an industrial cell, the unit coordinates motor torque and position so pick-and-place arms, indexing tables, or small gantries can follow programmed motion profiles with minimal cumulative error.
The power stage is rated for a continuous output of 30 A, allowing the drive to support mid-frame servo motors without thermal derating. The unit provides single-axis control, which simplifies cabinet wiring and parameter management. Command references enter through the dual-mode analog/pulse input interface, allowing the amplifier to accept both voltage signals and step-direction pulse trains. Position data can be retained during extended outages because the internal feedback channel supports a battery-backed absolute encoder, preventing the loss of machine zero when power is removed. Optical interpolation inside the feedback head samples the scale at 131,072 counts per revolution, and the position word is delivered to the amplifier’s digital signal processor with 17-bit resolution. For time-critical applications such as electronic gearing, the serial feedback stream operates at 2.5 Mbaud, minimizing latency between the sensor and controller.
Downstream communication uses half-duplex start-stop synchronization, which alternates transmission and reception over a shared pair to reduce cable bulk. When connected to auxiliary axes or load-monitoring devices, the unit can also accept signals from an external pulse encoder. Rotor position from the motor-side serial encoder is tracked across a 16-bit multi-turn range, eliminating the need for homing after a routine shutdown. The control logic and IGBT gate drives operate from the 200 V AC class bus, permitting installation on standard factory mains without an isolation transformer.
