Sanyo Denki manufactures the RS2A01A0AA0 servo drive for the R SANMOTION Servo Drives series. This cabinet-mounted amplifier controls one motion axis by converting fixed-frequency input power into regulated three-phase output for a compatible servo motor. Operating within a closed loop, it follows velocity or position references from a higher-level controller and applies torque in real time for pick-and-place arms, indexing tables, and light conveyors. Integrated control and power circuitry deliver responsive positioning without requiring additional discrete hardware.
The power stage can supply up to 15 A of continuous current, enabling fast acceleration without thermal derating. It is rated for the AC 200 V mains class, so it connects directly to standard 200-volt industrial power supplies without a step-down transformer. Because the drive governs a single mechanical line, it controls one axis, simplifying parameter settings and wiring. Command references arrive through an analog/pulse interface, allowing a choice between ±10 V velocity commands and high-resolution step-and-direction signals. Output status signals are presented through an NPN sinking transistor stage, permitting direct connection to common PNP sourcing logic while maintaining noise immunity over long cable runs.
Motor position is monitored through a serial encoder channel that streams digital data to the control circuitry, eliminating the need for resolver converters. The drive has no external encoder support, so the control system uses only the primary motor feedback. Dynamic braking energy is dissipated through a 100 Ω resistor during rapid motor deceleration. The drive contains a built-in braking resistor, removing the need for a separate panel-mounted braking module. This arrangement helps limit DC-bus voltage increases when kinetic energy returns from the motor. It also reduces the number of external braking components required within the control cabinet while protecting the bus capacitors and upstream power supply during repeated stopping cycles.
