The RS1L03AAW servo drive is produced by Sanyo Denki within the R SANMOTION Servo Drives series. Acting as a current-controlled amplifier, it links a motion controller to a three-phase servo motor and regulates the output so the motor follows commanded speed or position profiles. In industrial automation, the unit supplies tightly regulated motion for pick-and-place gantries, packaging axes, and similar equipment that requires rapid acceleration and precise velocity tracking.
Rated for an amplifier capacity of 30 A, the drive can deliver continuous phase current for compatible servo motors without thermal derating. Its main input is rated at 200 V AC, allowing direct connection to a suitable 200 V power source and simplifying cabinet wiring. A closed-loop frequency characteristic of 600 Hz allows the internal control loops to track reference signals with minimal lag, supporting accurate contouring at high machine speeds. The speed control range extends from the maximum rated speed down to 1:5000, so the same axis can move slowly during alignment and accelerate rapidly during production. During braking, energy is dissipated through a built-in 50 Ω resistor, helping prevent DC-bus overvoltage without external braking hardware. An integrated dynamic brake circuit provides immediate stopping when power is removed.
An external resistor can be connected for applications with greater braking demands, allowing the unit to handle up to 220 W of regenerative power. At power-up, a main inrush current of 18 A charges the DC-link capacitors, which should be considered when selecting upstream protection. Leakage current is limited to 0.5 mA, supporting touch-current safety requirements for control cabinets. With a housing mass of only 1.0 kg, the drive adds little weight to the mounting panel and is easier to accommodate in compact enclosures. Monitor outputs provide 2 V signals for voltage and temperature measurements. NPN sinking terminals transmit status pulses to compatible PLC inputs.
