The RS1A05AE0 is a single-axis servo amplifier produced by Sanyo Denki for the R SANMOTION Servo Drives series. As a pulse-width-modulated IGBT drive, it supplies controlled current to matched SANMOTION servomotors in packaging lines, pick-and-place modules, and similar industrial automation applications. The unit integrates a dynamic brake and a regenerative circuit, allowing deceleration energy to be dissipated without separate modules and reducing the number of components required inside the control cabinet.
A rated amplifier capacity of 50 A allows the drive to deliver high peak torque pulses while preserving headroom for continuous operation. A leakage current of 1.5 mA meets typical safety thresholds for grounded distribution networks, so additional ground-fault relays are usually not required. The internal regeneration path continuously absorbs up to 20 W, preventing DC-bus overvoltage during routine deceleration. Velocity control is maintained across a 1:5000 speed control range, and closed-loop response is tuned through the IGBT PWM sinusoidal control system. The frequency response reaches 600 Hz, supporting rapid positioning and precise reactions to changing motion commands. A speed monitor output of 2.0 V ± 10% and a corresponding torque monitor output transmit operating data to a PLC for system monitoring and diagnostics.
During deceleration, the built-in dynamic brake engages after 10 ms, clamping the motor voltage until the kinetic energy has been absorbed. The brake path handles 1800 J per stop and works with the internal 17 Ω regenerative resistor, which converts surplus electrical energy into heat. When cycle rates or load inertia exceed the continuous capability of the internal circuit, a terminal pair accepts an external resistor bank capable of dissipating 500 W. This external connection supports frequent braking cycles while reducing the likelihood of a shutdown caused by excessive regenerative energy. The enclosure has a mass of 2.2 kg, allowing straightforward panel mounting beside other motion-control modules while limiting the load placed on the cabinet structure.
