The RS1A03AF servo amplifier is manufactured by Sanyo Denki as part of the R SANMOTION Servo Drives series. It is intended for single-axis motion systems in which the drive’s position-control kernel closes the loop between motor feedback and command trajectories. Within an automated assembly cell or packaging line, this amplifier converts three-phase AC power into controlled current, while the integrated dynamic brake absorbs regenerated energy during rapid starts or stops. The position controller uses motor feedback to maintain the commanded shaft position.
The power stage supplies up to 30 A of continuous current, which is sufficient to run medium-frame servomotors at rated torque. An input class of 200 V AC makes the drive compatible with common 200-volt factory power systems, and the front panel provides an RJ-45 service port for parameter access. Network traffic to the host PLC moves through a half-duplex RS-485 channel with a default speed of 115200 bps, allowing successive position commands and diagnostic data to pass without external protocol converters. One controlled axis is supported, so each unit dedicates its signal processors to a single motor. The internal controller recognizes 254 registration points, making it suitable for indexing tables that require fixed-step repeatability. It also accepts a 2000 P/R incremental encoder signal for fine motion resolution. Position-control mode remains active when the built-in Modbus RTU stack is used instead of vendor-specific commands.
Startup stresses are limited to a control inrush current of 40 A (0-P) on the logic supply and a main inrush current of 18 A (0-P) on the power bus; these momentary surges should be considered when selecting fuses and circuit breakers. Leakage current is limited to 0.5 mA, supporting compliance with touch-current safety limits. During high-speed traverses, the command generator permits a maximum fast-forward rate of 2,147,483.647 mm/s. This numerical value reflects the range of the 32-bit internal counter rather than the mechanical capability of the connected system. The housing weighs only 1.0 kg, which facilitates installation inside compact control cabinets or on moving carriages.
