The RS1A03AB servo amplifier is produced by Sanyo Denki as part of the SANMOTION R Servo Drives series. Intended for industrial automation, the unit governs a rotary motor by delivering precisely timed phase currents so machinery can operate under speed, torque, or position control without mechanical changeovers. Its compact enclosure occupies minimal panel space and suits conveyors, pick-and-place axes, and indexing tables that require quick electrical response. The amplifier can coordinate rapid starts, controlled deceleration, and accurate positioning in machinery with repetitive motion cycles.
The amplifier has a rated capacity of 30 A, which is the maximum continuous current the power stage can supply to the stator windings. The command channels accept analog or pulse inputs, so either ±10 V references or differential pulse trains can provide motion targets. An internal IGBT PWM sinusoidal drive topology produces a near-sinusoidal waveform that minimizes torque ripple during motor operation. Ground leakage is limited to 0.5 mA, reducing unintended trips of ground-fault monitors in cabinets containing multiple drives. The velocity-loop bandwidth reaches 600 Hz, providing responsive disturbance rejection when loads change abruptly. The amplifier operates on an AC 200 V system and supports speed, torque, and position control modes. A built-in dynamic brake supports emergency stops, while an integrated regeneration circuit dissipates excess kinetic energy within the drive.
The housing weighs 1.0 kg, making it easier to mount beside PLC I/O blocks and other control equipment. In position mode, the counter input accepts up to 5 million pulses per second, while the quadrature channels support a two-phase rate of 1.25 million pulses per second for high-resolution tracking. Status and alarm outputs use PNP source logic, allowing direct connection to compatible 24 V controllers. Closed-loop operation covers a speed-control range of 1:5000, enabling the same axis to move slowly during inspection tasks and accelerate to normal process speed while maintaining consistent control. These operating modes allow the amplifier to respond to analog commands, pulse-based position references, and controller requests without requiring separate motion hardware.
