The RS1A01AL is a servo amplifier manufactured by Sanyo Denki and supplied within the R SANMOTION Servo Drives series. It conditions the main AC power before delivering controlled current to a compatible rotary or linear servomotor. The amplifier exchanges motion commands over a CANopen fieldbus and processes position feedback from the connected motor. These functions support accurate current, speed, and position control in automated machinery.
The output stage is rated for a continuous current of 15 A, which is the maximum motor phase current the drive can supply without derating. Both the control and main circuits accept an input of 200 V AC, allowing the unit to share a single low-voltage power source with matched SANMOTION motors. Fieldbus signaling complies with the ISO 11898 CAN standard, and the preset transfer speed is 500 kbps for deterministic cyclic data exchange. Two front-mounted RJ-45 ports provide in-line wiring, allowing additional nodes to be connected in a daisy chain without external T-pieces. The incremental encoder interface uses a wire-saving design, minimizing the number of I/O terminals needed when pulse-train feedback is used. Bus propagation delays are controlled by limiting a 1 Mbps segment to 25 m, and each segment can support up to 127 devices before a repeater is required. The amplifier has a mass of 1.0 kg, which limits the load placed on cabinet mounting rails. The unit does not include an internal regeneration resistor, so a separate braking module is necessary when deceleration produces energy that must be dissipated. Its logic outputs use an NPN arrangement for direct connection to sinking PLC inputs. A 120 Ω terminating resistor can be engaged at the final drive in the CANopen chain to reduce signal reflections and preserve communication quality.
