Product Description:
The PY0A100Z154 is a servo amplifier produced by Sanyo Denki for the PY Super BL Servo Amplifiers series. The module conditions a 200 V AC supply and delivers controlled power to brushless servo motors used in pick-and-place equipment, conveyors, and tooling axes. It converts incoming electrical energy into regulated motor output and dissipates excess energy through its built-in dynamic brake during rapid deceleration. The amplifier is intended for cabinet mounting in industrial environments at elevations up to 1,000 m. Its electronic controls can also direct regenerative energy to an external braking resistor to prevent excessive DC-bus voltage.
Nominal output capability reaches 100 A, providing the current capacity required for large-frame servomotors. During startup, the main circuit has an inrush current of 20 A, while the control circuit has an inrush current of 40 A. Keeping these inrush profiles separate helps reduce supply voltage disturbances as the amplifier powers up. The speed loop has a frequency characteristic of 400 Hz, supporting responsive motor regulation during changing load conditions. Velocity can be adjusted across a ratio of 1:5000, providing a broad operating range for both low-speed positioning and faster machine motion. Across this range, the feedback circuit maintains a maximum speed error of ±0.1%. The amplifier withstands a shock limit of 2 G and continuous vibration of 0.5 G, allowing installation on machine frames exposed to moderate mechanical movement.
Braking begins after a dynamic-brake delay of 24.0 ms, and the circuit can absorb up to 2450 J during a single stop. For sustained overhauling loads, an external resistor can dissipate 3000 W, while the internal braking element has an effective rating of 90 W. The installed braking resistor has a resistance of 10 Ω, which keeps current within the brake chopper’s operating range. These components manage regenerated energy when a driven load forces the motor to decelerate or reverse direction. The amplifier weighs 6.0 kg, allowing secure installation on a suitable cabinet mounting surface without placing excessive load on the enclosure structure.
