The P50B04010DXS13 is a brushless servo motor built by Sanyo Denki for the P5 Super BL Servo Motors series. With its compact 40 mm frame, the motor is intended for positioning axes that demand tight speed regulation in semiconductor tools, pick-and-place heads, and other light industrial automation stages. As part of a closed-loop drive system, it provides rapid response and controlled torque to help keep machine cycle times short.
At its nominal operating point, the unit supplies 100 W of mechanical output while running at 3,000 rpm. This performance is supported by a rated torque of 0.319 N·m and a phase current of 1.0 Arms. The brushless design has a torque constant of 0.333 N·m/Arms, allowing the drive to calculate the current needed for commanded torque. A phase resistance of 7.0 Ω and an electrical time constant of 1.5 ms establish the motor’s electrical response characteristics. The mechanical time constant is 1.4 ms, indicating that the rotor can respond quickly to speed commands. Rotor inertia is 0.079 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m², supporting fast direction changes in dynamic positioning applications. The motor can withstand continuous stall operation at 0.353 N·m with a current of 1.2 Arms. Its 40 or 42 mm square flange supports installation in compact machine frames, and the motor can reach a maximum speed of 4,500 rpm when commanded by a compatible drive.
For short periods of higher load, the stator can generate a peak torque of 0.98 N·m at a maximum winding current of 3.6 Arms. The controller must keep operation within these limits to prevent excessive winding temperature. The motor has an IP40 protection rating, making it suitable for clean, dry enclosures where exposure to water is not expected. It is supplied without a holding brake, so vertical axes require external clamping or another means of retaining the load when power is removed. Position feedback is provided by a wiring-saving incremental encoder with a resolution of 2,000 pulses per revolution, enabling precise commutation and position control with reduced sensor wiring. An integral detector reports the rotor angle directly to the drive, while the brushless topology reduces maintenance by eliminating brush contacts.
