The MC1KJ-U030V motion controller is produced by Sanyo Denki within the K SANMOTION Motion Controllers series. Designed for small to midsize machines, the unit issues position and speed commands to a single servo axis and collects feedback from an absolute encoder. By combining sequencing, communication, and a drive interface in one enclosure, it coordinates point-to-point moves, homing routines, and cycle operations in industrial automation equipment such as pick-and-place cells and indexing tables. Control loops run locally, so fieldbus traffic can be reserved for commands, status information, and diagnostic data.
The controller exchanges commands and diagnostic data over DeviceNet, allowing deterministic I/O access on the same twisted-pair network used by many PLC families. Its internal processor supports one axis, so motion profiles, torque limits, and position buffers focus on a single mechanical load, simplifying setup and adjustment. Feedback resolution reaches 8192 pulses/rev because the connected servo uses a high-density incremental track on the absolute encoder; this resolution supports precise velocity estimation at low speeds. Linear moves are programmed in increments of 0.01 mm, while rotary moves are specified in increments of 0.01°, reducing rounding errors when machine coordinates are calculated. Up to 63 units can share one DeviceNet segment, allowing multiple workstations to communicate through the same network.
Machine status is presented through an Alarm/Status LED that indicates power, operation, and fault conditions without requiring an external HMI. The discrete interface provides 8 local points, and the fieldbus can expand the map to 512 points of slave I/O when additional sensors are required. A built-in dynamic brake works with the regenerative circuit to absorb kinetic energy during abrupt stops. When sustained deceleration is expected, an external regenerative resistor can be connected to the dedicated terminals. The housing supports front or back mounting inside a panel, while a conformal coating protects the logic boards in operating humidity levels up to 90% RH. The controller has a mass of 2.0 kg, which limits the mechanical load placed on its panel mounting surface.
