The MC1K-U030V motion controller is produced by Sanyo Denki and offered in the K SANMOTION Motion Controllers series. Designed as the master of a servo network, it issues position, velocity, and torque commands so industrial robots, machine tools, and material-handling axes can move along coordinated paths. By processing encoder feedback and issuing high-speed link messages, the unit connects higher-level PLCs with the drives under its control.
The controller separates its power domains because the main circuit that energizes the motors uses three-phase AC, while the control electronics operate from a single-phase supply for logic isolation. The maximum output current is 30 A, allowing the controller to operate compatible servo amplifiers without reaching current foldback. Precise motion is supported by an encoder resolution of 8,192 pulses per revolution and absolute position reporting, so the system can retain position information after a power loss. Real-time instructions travel over the proprietary HPC link, which transmits at 625 kbps through shielded twisted-pair cable and maintains deterministic communication over distances up to 500 m. When equipped with the MA1K expansion, the controller can supervise 15 interpolated axes, whereas the AF1K option supports a single mapped axis. The controller can store as many as 700 BCD index points, which can be triggered through 16 discrete position-output terminals for coordinated machine sequences.
Operation is permitted at relative humidity levels up to 90% RH without condensation and at ambient temperatures reaching 55 °C. The PLC link channel supports a distance of 1 km, allowing the unit to communicate with supervisory controllers across large production lines or distributed machine layouts. Position tracking covers 1,024 motor rotations, which prevents counter overflow during extended linear travel or repeated rotary movement. Built-in dynamic braking and regenerative resistance functions dissipate excess energy during deceleration, helping control bus voltage when connected axes slow rapidly. The absolute detector preserves the recorded position across power cycles, while the available discrete outputs can transmit end-of-travel, process-state, or part-present signals to downstream equipment.
