The SP2566-5200 is a two-phase hybrid stepping motor produced by Sanyo Denki within the F SANMOTION Stepping Motors series. It is intended for positioning duties in automated pick-and-place heads, laboratory instruments, and small indexing tables where open-loop control is accepted and repeatable displacement is required. The motor converts discrete pulse commands from a drive into proportional angular motion, allowing machine builders to synchronize linear or rotary axes without the complexity of feedback devices.
The magnetic circuit provides a basic step angle of 1.8°, while the motor supplies a holding torque of 1.7 N·m for maintaining its position at rest. Each winding draws 3 A per phase. To set that current, the drive must overcome a phase resistance of 1 Ω per phase and a phase inductance of 4.4 mH per phase. These impedance values influence current rise time, so the microstepping bandwidth should be adjusted accordingly. Static angle error remains within ±0.054°, ensuring repeatable positioning when loads stay within the allowable radial limit of 23 N and thrust limit of 15 N. The low rotor inertia of 0.36 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m² supports rapid acceleration without large current peaks, and the 6.35 mm shaft diameter accommodates commonly available couplings.
The body has a length of 102 mm, and its pilot diameter is 38.1 ± 0.025 mm for concentric mounting. The motor weighs 1.2 kg, which limits the additional mass placed on gantry or stage structures. A housing sealed to IP65 blocks dust and directed water jets, allowing installation near coolant spray or airborne particles. Class F insulation supports the motor’s thermal requirements, and the coil set withstands up to 1500 VAC during high-potential testing. The 155 °C thermal limit should be observed, and adequate airflow may be needed when demanding duty cycles cause sustained heating.
