The SM2862-5252 is a hybrid stepping motor manufactured by Sanyo Denki in the SANMOTION F Stepping Motors series. Designed for servo-class repeatability without an external encoder, the motor converts command pulses into fixed angular displacements. This operating method allows pick-and-place arms, indexing tables, and miniature gantries to hold or move to specified positions under digital control.
Each full step covers 1.8°, providing a resolution of 200 steps per revolution for basic motion profiles. The frame measures 86 mm square and has a length of 96.5 mm, allowing it to fit NEMA 34 mounting patterns while maintaining a moderate stack length. The bearings permit a radial load of 229 N when the force is applied 10 mm from the mounting face. They also support an axial thrust of 60 N without shortening the expected bearing life. Static accuracy is supported by a pilot concentricity of 0.075 mm, shaft runout of 0.025 mm, radial play limited to 0.025 mm, and thrust play below 0.075 mm.
