Product Description:
The SH1602-5240 is a two-phase stepping motor produced by Sanyo Denki for the SANMOTION F stepping motor series. Designed for indexing tables, pick-and-place heads, and other position-controlled axes, the unit converts pulse trains from an open-loop driver into repeatable angular increments without requiring a feedback device. Its square flange fits compact machinery, while the fine angular increments support accurate positioning in applications that require controlled starts, stops, and directional changes.
The basic step angle is 0.9°, so 400 full steps rotate the shaft once and provide precise incremental movement. A holding torque of 1.28 N·m keeps loads stationary whenever the windings are energized, which is important for vertical or vibratory fixtures. The phase windings draw a rated current of 2 A per phase, and sizing the power stage for this value helps maintain proper motor operation with the winding resistance of 1.65 Ω per phase. Electrical response is influenced by a winding inductance of 6.1 mH per phase, which limits the rate of current change during high-speed acceleration. The rotor inertia is 0.4 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m², allowing rapid starts and stops while keeping overshoot modest during short-stroke movements.
The bearings support an allowable radial load of 65 N and an allowable thrust load of 15 N for belt-driven systems and axial couplings. Staying within these load limits helps prevent premature bearing wear. The motor weighs 0.8 kg, making it suitable for gantry carriages with restricted moving-mass allowances. A shaft diameter of 6.35 mm accepts standard collet couplers, and the 60 mm square flange has a 47.14 mm mounting-hole pitch with a 38.1 mm pilot for accurate housing alignment. The body is 54 mm long, allowing the motor to fit into shallow enclosures. Its lead wires extend at least 305 mm and use UL 3385 AWG22 insulation for connection to screw or insulation-displacement terminals in distributed control panels.
