Product Description:

The PMB32D-00116-03 is one of Pacific Scientific’s most innovative servo motors, designed under the PMB3 motor product line. Boasting a size NEMA 34 frame with a protection category of IP 40, this machine is suitable for automation systems requiring a fast-response motor. As a low-inertia motor, this device employs a brushless construction, allowing it to perform optimally with minimal power losses. During operation, this unit must be connected to a three-phase power supply with a nominal voltage of 240 V or a DC bus voltage with a potential difference of 320 V. Like other PMB3 motors, this machine employs rare-earth magnets along its core to achieve a low cogging effect.

The PMB32D-00116-03 achieves a continuous torque of 3.84 Nm at stall conditions. At the same operating point, this machine draws an RMS current of around 5.2 A. With its built-in digital encoder, this motor can be used for highly accurate servo systems. To operate properly, the digital encoder of this motor must be connected to a compatible servo drive or a processing module. Like other brushless motors, the PMB32D-00116-03 features a relatively low static friction and viscous damping coefficient. Particularly, the PMB32D-00116-03 has a maximum static friction of 0.12 Nm and a viscous damping coefficient of 0.026 Nm/kRPM.

Owing to the PMB32D-00116-03’s cooling system and compact form factor, the machine has a relatively short thermal time constant of 30 minutes. Without other accessories such as a holding brake, this PMB motor has a mass of 4.4 kilograms, or about 9.71 pounds. For high-torque applications, this machine can safely be configured to deliver a peak torque of 11.4 Nm. When the shaft achieves this peak torque value, the corresponding current drawn by the motor is around 15.6 A.
