Product Description:

The PMB series by Pacific Scientific is an impressive product line of motors featuring a brushless construction with a protection category of IP 40. Boasting a robust motor frame with possible sizes of 17, 23, and 25, PMB motors by Pacific Scientific are most suitable for high-performance and high-volume applications. The PMB31D-10216-03 is one of the most versatile PMB motors manufactured by Pacific Scientific, featuring neodymium-iron-boron magnets for optimized output torque during operation. With a terminal voltage of 240 VAC or 320 VDC, this machine is best for driving loads in an automation system requiring a fast-response spindle servo motor.

As a PMB31 motor, the PMB31D-10216-03 achieves a continuous torque of 2.11 Nm at stall conditions. At the same mode of operation, the continuous stall current is around 5.1 A. Whenever this motor operates at the nominal range, the RMS torque and voltage constants are 0.41 Nm/A and 0.25 V/kRPM. Like other servomotors manufactured under the PMB series, this machine has a typical rated speed of 6000 rpm. Due to its relatively higher driving torque, this motor excels for high-speed systems and applications. As a trade-off, however, this machine can only achieve a peak torque of around 6.26 Nm, or about 55.4 lb-in.

Owing to its chassis and cooling system design, the PMB31D-10216-03 has a thermal time constant of 28 minutes. Whenever heat is generated by the motor during operation, it takes some time to dissipate it via natural convection over the motor’s surface area. Based on PMB31’s datasheet, the PMB31D-10216-03 has a thermal resistance of 1.08 deg C/Watt. Wake Industrial provides a one-year item warranty for this impressive 3-phase servo motor by Pacific Scientific.
