Product Description:
The MK42FYYYYA-034 is a permanent-magnet servo motor built by Pacific Scientific for the M Permanent Magnet Motors series. It provides closed-loop rotary motion for positioning tables, pick-and-place heads, indexing drives, and other automated axes that require repeatable speed and torque under CNC or PLC control. Its permanent-magnet design provides high torque density within a compact motor body. The motor supports applications that alternate between precise movement, controlled deceleration, and stationary load holding during frequent production cycles.
Under continuous S1 duty, the motor produces 1.32 kW of mechanical output at a rated shaft speed of 4500 rpm. At this operating point, the windings draw a continuous current of 4.71 A from a 310 V DC bus, providing the electrical and thermal values needed for drive and cable selection. During brief acceleration periods, the electromagnetic assembly can produce a peak torque of 12.2 Nm, supporting rapid indexing within the permitted intermittent-duty range. The rated output, current, voltage, speed, and peak torque establish the operating limits that the connected drive must observe to control copper losses and motor temperature. Resolver code 1X-RX uses single-speed carrier excitation and supports 16-bit position interpolation, allowing the controller to obtain precise angular data while maintaining resistance to electrical noise on long feedback cables.
During standby or an emergency stop, the permanent-magnet brake provides 10 Nm of static holding torque to prevent back-driving on vertical or belt-loaded axes. The brake operates from a 24 V supply and draws 0.65 A, allowing it to interface with a suitable brake control circuit. The housing has an IP65 enclosure rating, protecting the internal components against dust and low-pressure water jets when the motor is installed outside a separate enclosure. Position feedback is supplied by a resolver, which reports the rotor angle through analog sine-cosine signals without requiring battery-backed position storage. This feedback method tolerates vibration and temperature changes while providing the drive with the position information needed for electronic commutation, speed regulation, and closed-loop motion control.
